'Rituals' Cinematic Album
Summary
‘Rituals’ is a cinematic album by collaborative duo Corre, for which the accompanying short film was written and directed by myself.
‘Rituals’ is the second project by CORRE, a creative audio-visual collaboration started by Henry Green & Hattie Ellis. The concept explores themes of mental health, friendship and nostalgia set to the frozen backdrop of Gothenburg’s Archipelago in Sweden.
The project brings together a team of British and Swedish artists and creatives to produce a story that spans many forms. As an album, a visual piece, and short film, ‘Rituals’ breaks the norm of a standard music release, captivating audiences with sound, picture and story.

The Concept
Set against the frozen beauty of the Swedish archipelago, Corre – Rituals – Frozen tells the story of Sofia, a woman burdened by grief and depression, who retreats to her childhood summer house in search of solitude. Surrounded by memories and the haunting stillness of winter, Sofia’s isolation takes a dark turn as she struggles with her inner demons. Her solitude is disrupted by Hanna, a spirited teenager whose boldness and familiarity feel strangely intimate. As their interactions unfold, it becomes increasingly unclear whether Hanna is real, a figment of Sofia’s imagination, or even a reflection of her younger self.
At the story’s emotional peak, Sofia teeters on the brink of despair, contemplating ending her life. Hanna’s unexpected invitation to share fika—a Swedish ritual of connection—pulls Sofia back, offering her a moment of reprieve and warmth. Through this shared act, the house, once filled with the cold weight of memory, becomes a space of healing and renewal. Whether Hanna is truly there or a projection of Sofia’s fractured psyche, her presence helps Sofia reconnect with hope, leaving the audience with a tender and lingering ambiguity.
