‘My Dad Died On My Birthday’ is the beautiful, harrowing, and hilarious work of the talented Maria Webb, that captures her journey before and after the passing of her father.
In early summer 2024, Maria approached me with the offer of creative directing and designing her book. I undertook this personal and sensitive project having known and collaborated with Maria over many years.
Together we discussed and developed a direction which I took and grew. I am immensely proud to have been a part of this project and feel very honoured to be trusted to help tell this deeply personal and important story.

I always felt like Josh was really listening to me, which was reflected in the amazing designs he made. He was sensitive to the nature of our project, which created a sense of ease while working. I never felt pressured or rushed and he always gave space for questions and opportunities to make changes. On top of this, he is empathetic, kind and has an incredible sense of style. I am so proud of the book we created together, but it was the process and working with Josh that I will hold on to most.
Josh is a dream to work with. He imbues his own creative touch onto projects, while holding space for the ideas of others involved. Every decision he makes is considered, thoughtful and results in work of beauty and high quality. He leads with confidence and purpose and it is so clear he loves and enjoys what he does. Josh has a skill for knowing when to add his own creative touch and when to pull back, resulting in work that has a perfect balance of collaboration.
