'My Dad Died On My Birthday'
Summary
‘My Dad Died On My Birthday’ is the beautiful, harrowing, and hilarious work of Maria Webb, that captures her journey before and after the passing of her father.
Maria invited me to creatively direct and design her book—a personal and sensitive project I took on after years of collaboration and connection with her.
Together, we explored and developed a direction, which I then expanded and brought to life. I’m deeply proud to have been part of this project and truly honoured to be trusted with telling such a personal and meaningful story.

Josh has a skill for knowing when to add his own creative touch and when to pull back, resulting in work that has a perfect balance of collaboration – Maria Webb
Maria shared a heartfelt request inspired by her father’s favourite colour, orange. She sent a photo of him sitting in vibrant orange trousers. The shades shifted subtly with the light, making it impossible to choose just one. The solution was to blur the image, merging all those oranges into a single, perfect hue—Evan’s Orange. And that’s the colour you see today.
